Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

Draft / placeholder. This is a starter framework — final terms should be reviewed by a qualified attorney before launch.

1. Agreement to terms

By creating an account, browsing, or using treadworks (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What treadworks is

treadworks is a marketplace that connects mountain bike riders with independent mechanics. We are not the service provider — we don't fix bikes ourselves. We facilitate introductions, bookings, communication, and payments between riders and mechanics.

Mechanics on the platform are independent professionals, not employees of treadworks. They set their own prices, hours, and policies.

3. Accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe and for everything that happens under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Bookings and payments

Riders book services at prices set by the mechanic. A 10% platform fee is added at checkout and includes payment processing costs. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Mechanics are paid out after each completed booking. treadworks does not guarantee specific income to mechanics or specific service quality to riders.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation policies are set by each mechanic and shown before booking. If a service is not delivered, was significantly different from what was booked, or the mechanic no-shows, contact us within 7 days for review.

6. Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
  • Misrepresent your identity or your bike's condition
  • Take payments off-platform to avoid the fee
  • Post false or manipulative reviews
  • Use the Service for illegal activity

7. Reviews

Reviews must be honest, tied to a real completed booking, and free of personal attacks. We don't edit or remove reviews unless they violate these terms.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is.” We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that mechanics will meet your expectations. Mountain bike maintenance carries inherent risks — riders accept those risks.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, treadworks is not liable for damages arising from a mechanic's work, the condition of any bike, missed work, injury, or other harm related to services booked through the platform. Your sole recourse is against the mechanic directly.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these terms. You may close your account at any time via settings.

11. Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll notify you. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
