Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

We collect information you give us directly (name, email, phone, address, bike info, profile photos) and information generated by using the service (bookings, messages, reviews, parts you order or attach to bookings).

We collect technical data automatically — IP address, browser, device type, pages visited — to keep the service running and detect abuse.

2. How we use it

  • To run the service: show profiles, process bookings, route messages
  • To process payments via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails (booking confirmations, messages)
  • To improve the platform and prevent fraud
  • To respond to support requests

We don't sell your personal information. We don't use your data to train third-party AI models without your explicit permission.

3. What we share

Some data is shared with other users and service providers:

  • Mechanics see your name, profile photo, messages, and the service address you provide — but only after a booking is confirmed.
  • Riders see the mechanic's business name, photo, location, and reviews.
  • Service providers we use to run the platform: Supabase (database + auth), Stripe (payments), Mapbox (maps + geocoding), Anthropic (AI assistant), Resend (transactional email). Each has its own privacy policy.

4. AI features

Our AI mechanic chat and parts-suggestion features send your messages, bike info, and the part descriptions you provide to Anthropic to generate responses. We don't store full conversations on third-party systems beyond what's needed to provide the response. Conversations stored on treadworks remain private to you and your booking participants.

5. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in) and to remember preferences like sidebar state. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. To delete your account, go to settings or contact us. Some data may be retained for tax, fraud-prevention, or legal-compliance reasons after account deletion.

7. Retention

We keep account data while your account is active. Booking records, reviews, and financial records may be retained for up to 7 years after deletion to comply with tax and audit requirements.

8. Children

treadworks is not intended for children under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes

We'll notify users of material changes via email and update the “last updated” date above. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the new policy.
